What is this Blog???

A few years ago, my dad gave me several boxes full of 35mm slides. I used to occasionally take a slide out and hold it up to the light to get a teeny tiny glimpse into his life from the early 1950s to the 1960s. One day I finally went out and bought a slide scanner so I could scan each slide and save it onto my computer. The goal was to build a book detailing my dad's experiences serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean war.

What I found was a treasure trove of great photographs... some from his college years, many from the Korean war and hundreds from his post-war trips in the 1950s and 1960s. I found that not only did I catch the travel bug from my dad as he traveled across the globe when mass tourism was but a dream... but that my dad pass on his photographer's eye to me.

While some of the slides are worse for wear and are faded, scratched up or a bit "blue", others are stunning and are National Geographic-worthy. Some are nice and clean and others are dusty. This blog is designed to show off my dad's pics as frequently as possible. People are often astounded when they see some of his shots, just as I have been while scanning them. I think you'll enjoy them, too.
